NUD4001DR2G is a type of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) - LED Driver, developed and manufactured by NUD. This highly integrated IC is designed for driving high power LEDs in a current mode (constant current) and is suitable for applications such as indoor and outdoor lighting, advertising signboards, automotive emergency lighting and automotive direction indicators. The device has an operating temperature range of –40°C to +85°C and a rising time of less than 1μs. It is available in a non-polar DO-204AC 2 Lead / 2 Drum package.

The NUD4001DR2G PMIC - LED Driver has a reference peak current (IPK) of 350mA, a triangular wave current waveform, and a high voltage compensation level of 320V (RES), making it ideal for high-brightness LED (HB-LED) applications. It also has a wide range of output currents, with a low startup current of 0.01mA, a typical current of 0.1mA, and a maximum current of 20mA.

The NUD4001DR2G offers a variety of protection features, including reverse output protection, a programmable over-current protection functions, a thermal shutdown function with a hysteresis of 135°C, and an over-voltage protection (OVP) feature. It also has a soft start capability, which helps to minimize LED inrush current at startup, and a LED open/short detection feature, which ensures that the LED is operated safely and reliably. Additionally, the device has several integrated diagnostic features such as LED open/short detection, current sense indication, and a low voltage detection (LVD) feature.

The NUD4001DR2G can be operated in either a Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) or a Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM). In CCM operation, the device maintains a continuous flow of current to the LED, ensuring that the LED is always driven at a constant current. In DCM operation, the LED current is adjusted to the LED brightness by controlling the switching frequency of the output current. The device also has a programmable frequency between 25kHz and 500kHz.

The NUD4001DR2G has an integrated error amplifier as well as a power stage driver, which can provide up to an output voltage of 500V. This high voltage output allows for using the device in applications such as indicator lights or backlighting. Furthermore, the device has a protection component (PPER) of 4.1V, allowing for a very low threshold voltage of 1.5V to activate the internal current source. This feature helps in providing accurate control of the LED current, even at a low input voltage.

In addition to the above-mentioned features, the NUD4001DR2G also has a number of adjustable parameters, including the external current reference level, the external frequency of the triangle wave current, and the internal current switch threshold.
