Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows for the transfer of both power and data through a single cable. Optical fiber technology has traditionally been used for high-speed data transfer while requiring an additional power source to provide power to devices. By combining power and data into a single connection, PoE technology simplifies the installation of network-connected devices, reducing wiring costs and eliminating the need for additional power sources. The POE31U-1AT is a power over Ethernet solution offering high power and advanced features for power-hungry devices.

Application Field

The POE31U-1AT is designed for applications with high power requirements including wireless access points, VoIP phones, network cameras, security systems, and other network-connected devices. It is IEEE 802.3af compliant, guaranteeing compatibility with current and future standards-based PoE devices. It can power devices requiring up to 25.5 Watts of power, more than traditional 10/100 Mbps PoE solutions. The POE31U-1AT allows for up to two networks with both 10/100 Mbp/s Ethernet ports and PoE ports, leaving one port free for non-PoE equipment.

Working Principle

The POE31U-1AT features an innovative Power over Ethernet powered device (PD) detection system that analyzes the incoming Ethernet connection to determine the presence and power requirements of attached PD devices. This allows the device to adjust power output automatically based on the needs of the connected device, optimizing the power and network resources of the PoE system. In addition, the POE31U-1AT’s bypass feature provides protection from power losses in the event of a power supply failure, automatically switching over to a backup source to keep PoE devices online with minimal disruption.

The unit features two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports, one of which is a PoE port capable of supplying up to 25.5 Watts. The PoE port is equipped with both polarity and short circuit protection to ensure safe connection of the device to the Ethernet network. The PoE port also features an LED that indicates the power state of the device, providing a visual indication of connection and operation.

The POE31U-1AT is designed to be an efficient, reliable PoE solution for connecting high power devices. It is an ideal solution for applications wheremultiple PoE-connected devices are used in a network. By combining high power, advanced features, and efficient PD detection, the POE31U-1AT offers an ideal solution for installing and powering network devices in PoE applications.
