Working Principle
The availability of EM3242 scanning procedure for an absolute position throughout the complete opening or closing motion of a system provides many distinct advantages. The sensor has a housing with two stones and a beam-splitter, this splitter holds a beam onto a disc that rolls up and down the stones. During rolling, the beam of light passes from both the stones. A linear or angular measuring position can be determined when the beam passes the stone. When paired with a processing unit, the output will be a measured value.

The beam-splitter design improves the contrast between the measured signal and the reflected environment light, which increases the quality of the measured value.
