Shock sensors are ubiquitous in applications such as aerospace, automotive, military, and medical industries. They detect unexpected physical shocks and quickly process positions and forces before converting them into electrical signals. The W2DL-02 shock sensor is a dual-stage miniaturized sensor designed to detect and measure peak acceleration levels and to plot both frequency and duration of those shocks in order to provide data for further study.
The W2DL-02 comprises two distinct sensing elements. The first element is a large circular capacitance diaphragm element which provides early and accurate response to shocks. The second element is a smaller micro-machined shear capacitor which provides precise measurement of more severe shocks. With two distinct sensing elements, the W2DL-02 is able to detect shocks in both low and high frequencies continuously.
The working principle of the W2DL-02 finds its roots in the concept of capacitive acceleration sensing. The two sensing elements are connected to a central circuit board. When the capacitance diaphragm senses a shock, the sudden change in capacitance is detected and converted into an electrical signal. This signal is then sent to the micro-machined shear capacitor and amplified accordingly. The amplified signal is then sent back to the central circuit board for further analysis.
The W2DL-02 is capable of measuring peak acceleration intensity up to 10g and plots both frequency and duration of those shocks. The sensor has an operating range of -40°C to +100°C with a high degree of reliability and accuracy. This makes the W2DL-02 ideal for applications where the detection of sudden shocks and their severity is vital. For example, the sensor can be used to measure and analyze shocks induced by an aircraft on takeoff and subsequent flight.
The W2DL-02 shock sensor is one of the most advanced and reliable solutions for shock detection and measurement on the market today. Its dual-stage sensing elements allow for accurate and reliable shock reporting and its robust design ensures longevity in all environments. Furthermore, with its advanced measure of peak acceleration, the W2DL-02 is ideal for a variety of applications in aerospace, automotive, military, and medical industries.
