Introduction
NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistors, also known as Negative Temperature Coefficient resistors, are temperature sensing components which show a decreased resistance as temperature increases. The 01M1002JF is a long-term durable NTC thermistor used for high operating temperatures, such as measuring temperatures between -40°C and 250°C. It is available in three versions – two which are unencapsulated and one encapsulated version with soft PFA sheathing. The 01M1002JF NTC thermistor works on the principle of resistors changing their resistance when the temperature changes. As the temperature increases, the resistance of the thermistor decreases. This decreases the overall resistance of the thermistor. This decrease in resistance is known as “negative thermal coefficient”. The changing resistance of the thermistor changes the total resistance of the circuit, thus changing the voltage or current in the circuit.
