2PLL6L is a technology with a wide range of applications in industry, military, consumer products, medical, and scientific fields. In essence, piezoelectric materials hypothetically contain two “phases,” namely the 6C phase and the 6L phase. These phases are made up of crystalline structures that are able to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy or vice versa. The electrical signal is then used to either measure or control the mechanical system.In the two-phase 6L/6C (2PLL6L) configuration, the 6L crystal phase is connected in series while the 6C crystal phase is connected in parallel. The electrical signal generated by the 6C phase is applied to a separate circuit for analysis. This 6C phase is primarily used for linearizing the electrical signal output by the 6L phase. In a 2PLL6L system, mechanical energy is directly converted from electrical energy, bypassing the additional steps of converting to and from mechanical energy. This makes the 2PLL6L system more responsive than its hydraulic/pneumatic counterpart.The 2PLL6L technology offers many advantages over conventional electro mechanical actuators, sensors, and load cells. For example, if one of the 6L or 6C phases moved faster than the other, the resultant signal would then be an accurate representation of the pressure, regardless of the differences in the rates between the two phases.Furthermore, the energy efficiency of the system is improved due to the elimination of all of the conversion processes required in a traditional hydraulic/pneumatic system. As power is already in the form of an electrical current, no extra energy is required for conversion.Lastly, the technology is also suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions. Unlike other sensors, the 2PLL6L technology does not require the external environment to be maintained in a constant state.
