Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polarized capacitors with an anode made of aluminum oxide that acts as a dielectric. The oxide’s electrical conductivity is increased by electrochemical etching and activating, creating a high-quality electrolyte with capacitance that is much higher than the equivalent mass of any other type of capacitor.
