The AD7740KRMZ is a Field and Frequency or Frequency to Voltage (F/V or V/F) Converters that can be used to convert data in the frequency domain to corresponding voltage output. It\'s application field mainly in measurements for motion control systems, rotational speed measurements, speed torque control and automotive applications.

The AD7740KRMZ contains a full wave rectifier, low pass filter, Schmitt trigger and an optional linearization stage. The wave rectifier is a low power frequency-to-voltage (F/V) converter which can convert a given frequency signal to a higher voltage. This voltage level is then filtered and rectified by the low pass filter to obtain the correct voltage output. Lastly, the Schmitt trigger converts the rectified waveform into a square wave or a pulse waveform which is then linearized. All the stages in the AD7740KRMZ chip allow for the generation of very accurate and linearized output voltages.

The AD7740KRMZ provides two operational parts, namely a frequency detector (FD) and a non-linearizer (NL). The frequency detector is used to detect the frequency value of the input signal and convert it into a voltage output using high precision low noise amplifiers. The weighting factor of this frequency detector can be configured to be anything from a low of 2.25 Hz/V to a high of 16 MHz/V. Additionally this frequency detector also features an improved Type-II linearization function, which can be turned on or off at any time to suit the user\'s application requirements.

The non-linearizer section of the AD7740KRMZ is used to linearize the output voltage so that the RF signals generated will be converted accurately. This non-linearizer section consists of a DPDT switch, linearization resistors, a SAW filter and a high pass filter which help convert the output voltage to its linearized form. Additionally, the AD7740KRMZ also contains an output buffer, an input offset drive and a DC offset trimming system which can be used to further improve the accuracy.

The AD7740KRMZ chip is an excellent solution for use in frequency-to-voltage (F/V) and voltage-to-frequency (V/F) conversion applications where accurate and linearized voltages are needed. This chip can operate over a temperature range of -40 to 85 °C and it has a very low power consumption of 2.75 mW. The AD7740KRMZ also provides a 3 dB bandwidth of 165 kHz, making it ideal for applications that require both high precision and high speed performance.
