The AD9287-100EBZ Evaluation Board is an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), designed for precision data conversion applications. The board is a low cost, low power solution for comprehensive evaluation and application development. It uses an AD9287-100 ADC for low latency signal conversion, and key features of the evaluation board include the ability to directly connect to multiple input targets, a ‘plug & play’ graphical user interface (GUI) for configuration of the on-board ADC and reference (VR0 and VR2) supplies, and a range of comprehensive performance analysis tools. It is also suitable for instrumentation systems, medical imaging, wireless communications system and high power systems, where precision conversion of signals is necessary.
The working principles of the AD9287-100EBZ Evaluation board are based on the AD9287-100 ADC, which is a 10-bit, 50 MSPS/60 MSPS successive approximation register (SAR) type ADC that has optimized power saving techniques and a multi-stage pipelined architecture. The device is designed for low latency operation with output data rates up to 50 MSPS/60 MSPS using low latency techniques, which make it suitable for video applications. The AD9287-100 also features an ultra-low power down (PD) mode which ensures that the device maintains its normal performance characteristics while conserving power. Apart from that, the AD9287-100 also includes a ‘wait-on-event’ power saving feature, which will halt the device when there is no valid input and wait for the input to return before continuing.
The AD9287-100 evaluation board is designed to interface to capture devices operated with a frequency of up to 12 MSPS. The board is shipped ready for use and comprises the following components: two DC connector interfaces (one for power and one for digital data), ADC, reference voltage supplies (VR0 and VR2), clock circuitry, two ground planes, 10-pin I/O header, level shifters and a range of performance tests. It also has a graphical user interface (GUI) which can be used to control the ADC\'s performance, as well as monitor the analog input and output signals. The board also includes an LED indicator which gives a visual indication of the board’s power status. The power supply used with the AD9287-100 Evaluation Board is provided by a standard 5V power supply. This can be provided either from an AC wall adapter or any other suitable DC source.
