Optical Sensors - Ambient Light, IR, UV Sensors: ADNS-7700-HAMY is an optical sensor developed with a combination of MEMS and advanced process technology, such as CMOS wafer-level process, that can detect the light intensity of ambient light, infrared (IR), and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It has a wide range of applications and uses in various electronics such as computer mice, keyboards, all-in-one controllers, and much more.The sensor is composed of CMOS readout integrated circuit (ROIC) and a sensitive area consists of MEMS optics and group of photodiodes to maximize sensitive area. An interfacial circuit to convert analog signal into digital, store optical information is included inside this device. It is cost-effective and energy-efficient compared to the traditional photoelectric sensors.The ADNS-7700-HAMY consists of a high-fidelity optical detection station, which is equipped with an array of micro-optics and photodiodes, and a readout integrated circuit (ROIC). The micro-optics allows the device to detect and respond to various portions of the light spectrum, including visible light, infrared and ultraviolet light. It is capable of reading very low light intensity levels, ranging from 10 to 1000 lux. The unit is powered by a 3VDC power supply and includes a standard infrared (1.25 mm) connector.The working principle of the sensor involves the ROIC processing the analog signals from the photodiodes. The analog signals are converted into digital signals, and then processed and stored in the memory chip. The whole detection process is very fast, just a few milliseconds.
