Analog to Digital Converters or ADC are used to convert analog data to digital data and vice-versa. The ADS7279IRSAR is an 8-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC which provides user selectable resolutions from 8-bits down to 6-bits. It is especially beneficial in applications that utilize narrow bandwidths. The ADS7279IRSAR provides fast data acquisition times, high performance, and low power consumption for battery-operated applications such as portable medical devices.
The ADS7279IRSAR utilizes a pipelined architecture to achieve high speeds over a wide bandwidth while reducing power requirements. The device is configured with an embedded Digital Logic Core (DLC) that allows selectable gain settings and thresholds to optimize performance, reduce power consumption, and enable faster data acquisition. The ADS7279IRSAR device works depending on the following principles adapted from Sar ADC Theory:
