The ADUM1400WSRWZ35 has a wide supply voltage range typically between 5V and 24V, with an isolation voltage of 1.5 kVrms.The device functions by using a pair of complementary NMOS and PMOS transistors, which act as latches. When the input is low the PMOS transistor is off and the NMOS transistor is on, switching the output to the low state. When the input is high the PMOS transistor is on and the NMOS transistor is off, switching the output to the high state. In between the NMOS and PMOS stages, there is an optically isolated coupler which provides electrical isolation between the two sides of the circuit. The opto-isolator utilizes Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to provide the optical isolation. The LEDs modulate the light produced, switching it on and off, which in turn produces voltage signals on the receiver side. The receiver has photodiodes and support circuits, which generate output signals that correspond to the transmitted signals from the LEDs.The ADUM1400WSRWZ35 also uses two Resonant Mode (RM) Transformers, connected in a bridge configuration, to provide transformer-coupled digital isolation. The RM Transformers provide isolation voltages of up to 2.1kV RMS, allowing the ADUM1400WSRWZ35 to operate in hazardous industrial environments. The RM Transformers also provide high reliability, allowing the device to operate at below 10 ppm/°C temperature drift for industrial applications.
