The ADUM4070ARIZ voltage regulator is a DC-DC switching converters specially designed for a wide range of applications where power density, flexibility, and efficiency are important requirements. The device combines high-efficiency step-down and step-up operations in one low-cost, low-power package, making it suitable for applications in the HVAC, automotive, data center and industrial markets.

The device integrates power conversion capabilities, allowing designers to achieve load current and voltage balancing with minimal external components. This allows for higher accuracy, higher efficiency, and improved design flexibility with the use of a single device.

The voltage regulator is composed of two independent switch converters, each with its own voltage regulation loop. The step-down and step-up outputs are synchronized and regulated separately.The step down output is regulated by a feedback loop with a current limit and a temperature protection circuit. The load current and output voltage of the buck converter are continuously monitored and adjusted according to the desired voltage.

The step-up output is regulated by a different loop, which includes a current limit, a reference voltage and an on/off control voltage. The step-up output voltage is regulated by comparing the part’s reference and on/off control voltages.The part is designed with a power saving mode in which the device can be put into a reduced power consumption state. This allows the part to be used in a wide range of applications. For example, the device can maintain a constant output voltage when the load current is low and enter a reduced power consumption state under a no-load condition
