An aluminum electrolytic capacitor (Al-cap) is a type of electrolytic capacitor, a passive component of electronic circuits. It contains an anode, constructed of an aluminum foil layer with an etched surface covered with a deposit of insoluble dielectric material and a thin metal layer, an electrolyte, and a cathode, usually a thin metal layer.
