The AOD206_001 / AOD206A_001 are advanced power MOSFETs that feature high current, low voltage operation (Vth=3V or 4.5V), low on-state resistance, and low capacitance. It is well-suited for low side switching of IGBTs, MOSFETs, and other logic-level power switches.
The AOD206_001 / AOD206A_001 MOSFET is capable of operating up to 20 A in continuous mode. It is commonly used to drive IGBTs and MOSFETs for high power switching applications such as VRD (variable reluctance drive) for AC inverters and other high current switching applications. This MOSFET has very low intrinsic gate capacitance (Ciss), which helps reduce system losses.
Due to its small size and low gate threshold voltage (3 or 4.5V), the AOD206_001 / AOD206A_001 is ideal for high frequency switching applications. The MOSFETs are tolerant to analog and static CMOS signals, and their ESD protection is easily configurable by an external resistor.
The operation of the AOD206_001 / AOD206A_001 is based on the operation of the MOSFET, which is a voltage-controlled semiconductor device with three terminals (the gate, drain and source). The MOSFET acts as a switch, controlling current flow between its two terminals, the source and drain, while the gate tunes the electrical properties of the device. When the gate is closed (i.e. the voltage is below the threshold voltage of the device), there is no current flow between source and drain. When the gate voltage is greater than the threshold voltage, the channel between source and drain turns on and the device conducts.
The current flow between source and drain can be controlled by adjusting the gate-source voltage such that the device changes its drain current very rapidly. This change depends on the device\'s transconductance, or the amount of current through the device at a given gate-source voltage. At lower gate-source voltage, a lower drain current is produced and at higher gate-source voltage, higher drain current is produced.
The AOD206_001 / AOD206A_001 can be used in a wide range of applications, such as AC and DC motor control, LED lighting control, regulators, solenoids, and high current switching. The device has been designed to meet the challenging requirements of high current and low EMI applications. Its low on-state resistance provides the device with a higher current handling capability, making it suitable for high-frequency switching applications, while its low Ciss allows for higher switching frequencies and improved system efficiency.
