Aluminum-Polymer Capacitors are capacitors that use a combination of an anode made from either aluminum or titanium foil, and an electrolyte consisting primarily of polymers material. Because the construction of the anode and the electrolyte inside the capacitor are different than an electrochemical capacitor, the composition and electrical properties of Aluminum-Polymer Capacitors are unique when compared to traditional capacitors. In addition to being more lightweight and having a lower inductance than electrochemical capacitors, they have higher capacitance, better temperature stability, and longer life span.

In comparison to electrolytic capacitors, Aluminum-Polymer Capacitors offer improved temperature stability and superior high frequency reliability. The temperature-stabilized performance makes them suitable for high power switching applications such as security systems, precision military and aerospace equipment, and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) applications.

The APSC6R3ELL561MH08S capacitor is an aluminum-polymer capacitor developed for use in applications requiring high capacitance, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), and long life. This capacitor is designed to operate over an extended temperature range from -55°C to 125°C and provides excellent ripple current capability. Its small size and low ESR make it ideal for applications such as Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry, where high capacitance is required, and for motor and transformer drives, where a high ripple current is required at high temperature.

The APSC6R3ELL561MH08S capacitor is constructed of a cylindrical anode made of either aluminum or titanium foil, which is then wrapped around a closed-cell polyolefin applied with special PEDOT-inorganic copolymers electrolyte and stainless steel foil. The anode and electrolyte both get sealed together by a flame retardant thermoplastic shield.
