The ATSAMV71-XULT is an ultra low-power processor evaluation board that is compliant with the low-power SAMV71Q21 ARM Cortex-M7 MCU from microchip. The microcontroller board features four user LEDs, four UARTs, two CAN Buses, serial communication options, a range of audio interfaces and a USB 2.0 High-Speed/Full-Speed Host/Device connection. This evaluation board targets automotive, medical and industrial applications, and provides an impressive combination of performance, scalability and energy savings. It is designed to provide engineers with a simple and convenient development platform for evaluating and prototyping their projects.
Applications of the ATSAMV71-XULT evaluation board include automotive, medical, industrial, home/building automation, data logging and any other application which requires low power and high performance processor.
The ATSAMV71-XULT microcontroller is based on the SAMV71Q21 ARM Cortex-M7 MCU from Microchip, featuring rich peripheral libraries, high integration and excellent power efficiency. This MCU operates up to 200MHz and provides single-cycle access to on-chip 32-bit SRAM and flash memory. The processor offers up to two CAN channels (CAN 2.0B) with auto-bus-off and up to 3MB of additional SPI (QSPI) external memory that is compatible with an Industry Standard 10-pin Quad I/O interface. It integrates a full-speed USB 2.0 Host/Device Controller with PHY, a 3-channel Direct Memory Access (DMA) Controller, a flexible Interrupt Management Unit and up to 4 UARTs.
The ATSAMV71-XULT evaluation board is a comprehensive kit for evaluating and prototyping applications that require low power MCUs. It features a switched power supply with a voltage range of 1.62V to 3.6V, and two LEDs connected with the USB connector for power indication and signal reception. It also features a USB-UART bridge with a USB-A and mini-USB connector, an 8/16-bit 802.11 Wi-Fi modem and two CAN buses, an SDCard adapter with an 8/16-bit 802.11 Wi-Fi modem. The onboard I/O includes a 40-pin expansion header, an external 8/16-bit on board memory, an audio jack, an SPI flash connector, and a 51-pin compact-flash board.
The ATSAMV71-XULT evaluation board has abundant on board peripherals and tools for expanding the performance of the processor. It includes on-chip debugging features such as embedded trace macros cells (ETM), core trace buffer (CTB), a trace port interface unit (TPIU) and a range of on-chip debug options. It also offers various power management options in order to reduce power consumption. The board provides a number of performance optimization features including the CoreMark benchmarking suite, Real-time Operating System (RTOS) integration, Ethernet, LCD interface, and capacitive touch sensor development.
The ATSAMV71-XULT evaluation board delivers an ideal platform for developing code optimized for the processor. It includes comprehensive software development tools such as Device Tree Compiler, Atmel Studio, Atmel Software Framework, GCC, ARM C/C++ compiler, IAR Embedded Workbench and Keil MDK.
