An aluminum electrolytic capacitor is composed of two aluminum foils with a paper-insulated separator between them. The separator is impregnated with an electrolyte, usually an aqueous solution of borax or other salts. After electrolysis of the aluminum foils and impregnation of the separator, a very thin inert layer of aluminum oxide is formed at the surface of the aluminum anode, creating an electrical insulator. This layer is then covered with a sealant in order to prevent the electrolyte from evaporating. The thickness of the aluminum oxide layer determines the maximum capacitance of the capacitor. As the aluminum oxide layer is very thin, it has a high capacitance. As the electric field in the aluminum oxide layer increases, it increases the capacitance of the capacitor accordingly. There are two main methods of charging a B43508B9187M7 aluminum electrolytic capacitor: direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC).
