Specialty Fuses
The BK/GMT-5A is a high-current, time-delay specialty fuse designed to offer protection in a variety of unfused applications. It is an ideal solution for a wide range of applications and can be used in specialized power systems, such as in photovoltaic, nuclear, and aerospace circuits.
The BK/GMT-5A operates on direct current and alternating current, and can be used in circuits up to 500 amps without risk of overloading or short-circuiting. Unlike other specialty fuses, the BK/GMT-5A incorporates two delay timing elements that are designed to provide protection in extreme situations as well as providing protection against voltage surges. The two timing elements are located on either side of the fuse, and their function is to ensure that when a voltage surge is detected, it is delayed, allowing the voltage to return to normal before the fuse is tripped.
The BK/GMT-5A is also designed with a triple-rated voltage rating, making it suitable for use in higher voltage circuits. This triple rating is accomplished by utilizing two separate arc-gap adjusting devices to ensure the maximum level of protection is available with each fuse. The doubling of the arc-gap devices also allows the BK/GMT-5A to be used in multiple configurations without the need to re-adjust or replace the fuse.
The BK/GMT-5A can be easily installed in any existing circuit, requiring only a disconnection of the existing fuse and connection of the BK/GMT-5A. The protected element of the fuse can be reset, allowing for continued operation of the circuit in the event of a power surge.
The BK/GMT-5A is designed to be used in a wide range of applications including medical equipment, industrial automation, and renewable energy systems. With its versatility, reliability, and high current rating, the BK/GMT-5A provides an effective solution for a variety of protection needs.
