Applications of BMA120 Accelerometer

Working Principle of BMA120 Accelerometer

When a force is applied, the distance between two plates is slightly changed which causes a change in capacitance. The principle is similar with the BMA120 accelerometer.

The sensing element of the BMA120 accelerometer consists of a proof mass which is suspended between two electrodes. When an acceleration is applied, the proof mass is displaced due to the action of the acceleration. This displacement causes a change in the capacitance between the electrodes which is detected and converted into an analog signal.
