The BQ25101HYFPR is a high performance battery charger designed to charge one or two series cells. It is a member of the BQ25100 family of intelligent, space saving, switched mode hydrid battery charging products from Texas Instruments. Its main feature is to offer maximum programmability for each of the two cells, making it suitable for virtually any type of battery management system. Essentially, the BQ25101HYFPR is a battery charger and trickle charger (including optional Li-Ion 4.2V support) that is immensely flexible and very easy to integrate into a variety of PMIC / Battery Charger designs.
The BQ25101HYFPR device combines a powerful, high frequency step-down DC-DC converter, along with a programmable pre-charging current limit, reverse current protection, cell balancing, battery temperature monitoring, and overcharge protection. This feature set, together with its advanced integrated features, makes the BQ25101HYFPR extremely useful in battery-powered devices that require high accuracy and fast charging, flexible charging options and generous protection against abuse.

Working Principle
The BQ25101HYFPR is a two-cell battery charger, with each cell having two charger output pins. A single LED is provided to monitor the battery charging status of each cell. The device works by automatically adjusting the charging current of each cell according to the voltage sensed at the input side. The cell charging can be set up for either fast charge or trickle charge profiles.
