Common Mode Chokes (CMC) are electrical filters used to suppress noise on power supplies, coaxial cables, Ethernet connections, and other multi-conductor circuit designs. CMCs use magnetic coupling to provide attenuation of electromagnetic (EM) interference in the frequency range from 150kHz to 100MHz.The CMT-8120-B CMC is an efficient, low-power, high-isolation, enclosed coaxial Common Mode Choke perfect for applications where noise suppression and EMI compliance is required. The CMT-8120-B Common Mode Choke offers a high frequency operation of 150KHz to 1GHz, making it ideal for applications such as industrial and IT equipment, automotive, telecom and medical equipment, energy management, and communications systems.The working principle of the CMT-8120-B CMC is based on the electromagnetic properties of the choke core. The choke core uses a combination of magnetic components such as inductors, capacitors, resistors and EM shell-type structures to create a range of high-frequencyshielding functions. These components allow the CMC to suppress high-frequency interference and noise from external sources, and switch mode power supplies. The CMC also serves to reduce EMI emissions from the equipment it supports.The CMT-8120-B CMC is capable of providing attenuation of 22dB at 400MHz, more than enough for typical DC-DC converters. Its outer-shell serves to mechanically strengthen the filter, as well as provide additional shielding. The CMT-8120-B CMC also features wide temperature range of -25°C to +85°C, allowing use in a variety of tough environmental conditions.The CMT-8120-B CMC is a cost-effective solution for high-frequency noise suppression and EMI compliance. Its shielded configuration reduces the risk of electrical overstress (EOS) damage and helps maintain high signal integrity for noisy equipment.
