There are two types of reference voltages used in the DAC7615PB : a reference voltage (VREF) and a low voltage reference (LVREF). The VREF voltage can be either an internal or external reference voltage, while the LVREF voltage is an external reference voltage that is limited to 0.125V.The DAC7615PB supports three different types of digital input words, namely Two’s Complement, Gray Code, and Offset Binary. Based on the input word, the DAC7615PB converts it into analogue voltage using its diode-connected NMOS switching architecture. Initially, each of the digital inputs are supplied to the appropriate voltage level corresponding to the switches\' gate-source voltage. When the digital input word is the same as the reference voltage, the appropriate switches are turned ON and OFF, thus controlling the analogue output voltage. When the digital word differs from the reference voltage, the switches are adjusted so as to maintain the analogue output voltage as close to the reference voltage as possible.The DAC7615PB is also equipped with a power-on reset feature which can be disabled in certain applications. This feature resets the analogue output voltage to zero when the power is first applied, ensuring that the output voltage can be maintained in the event of a power failure or if the device has been in an idle state for some time.In addition, the DAC7615PB is also equipped with a chip-selectable voltage range option, which allows users to select either an output range of 0-5V, 0-7V, or 0-10V.
