The DC-VA-H264-10B-30-1080-EVXC-SL boards and kits are designed to enable high-quality, high-performance H.264 video resolutions up to 1080P@30fps in a range of USB video capture formats. This is thanks to the integration of a mini PCI-E to USB3.0 bridge chip and a USB 3.0 hub, which provide multiple USB 3.0 ports. This allows the board to capture 1080P video at 30fps and capture five channels of simultaneous HD video, all from a single USB 3.0 port.

The board also supports a range of USB capture formats, including USB2.0, USB3.0 and USB3.1. The module also features an embedded FPGA, allowing for the further expansion of functionality, such as data storage, transmission and even an integrated watchdog timer. The FPGA’s scalability also boosts I/O rates, offering a wide range of capture and play solutions. Additionally, the FPGA provides a buffer for the I/O operations, so can be made to capture the real-time streaming video in physical memory. This reduces latency and allows the user to capture the video without dropping frames.

The board is pre-configured with the DC-VA H.264 10bit encoder, providing high-quality encode performance. Its unique combination of features and performance benefit from the H.264 10bit encoder’s variable bitrate control technology, enabling high quality but low bit rate encoding support. The 10bit encoding support includes the use of the Advanced Prediction (AP) and Advanced Loop Filter (ALF) algorithms, which provide superior compression performance compared to other 8bit encoding solutions.
