The DC1041A-B is an evaluation board used primarily for DC/DC and AC/DC off-line switch mode power supply (SMPS) applications. It is ideal for evaluating high-frequency, high-efficiency switching regulators, non-isolated switching power supplies, and synchronous rectification power supplies.
The DC1041A-B evaluation board has a single-board architecture for use with the LTC3780 series of high-frequency, high-efficiency, synchronous step-down switching regulators. The board is designed to help reduce development time, design validation, and the complexity of creating custom reference designs. The standard features include a full-regulation topology with both PWM and Burst Mode operation, 4A output current capability, integrated voltage sensing and feedback, and onboard power factor correction (PFC). The board is also capable of supporting a wide range of output voltage settings.
The DC1041A-B evaluation board also includes a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows the user to monitor voltages, currents, and temperatures throughout the evaluation board. It features a built-in oscilloscope function for monitoring the switching waveforms, as well as adjustable parameters that allow for optimizing the board’s performance. The user is also able to design custom control logic with the provided software.

The working principle of the DC1041A-B evaluation board is based on a step-down buck regulator topology. The IC switches the buck inductor in a pulse-width modulation (PWM) or burst mode operation to deliver the desired output voltage. The operating frequency can be adjusted to optimize the output voltage, as well as the efficiency of the switching regulator. The board is then able to regulate the output voltage to a preset value using a voltage feedback mechanism.
The board also utilizes a Type-III power factor correction (PFC), also known as boost PFC, with a constant frequency and peak current loop for improved power factor compliance.
