DS229N Application Field and Working Principle
The DS229N is an integrated Interface - Drivers, Receivers and Transceivers device targeting industrial and car applications. By combining the three devices onto one die, it provides users with a simple solution for their applications, which are dependent on any of these functions.
The DS229N provides industrial users with the ability to use its advanced features making it the go-to choice for Automation, Robotics, Process Control System, SCADA and more. For automotive users, the DS229N’s ability to be used in the challenging environment of a vehicle, due to its robustness, makes it an ideal candidate for use in a variety of automotive functions such as ABS, traction control, TPMS, and airbag control.
The DS229N consists of three integrated device types, a Driver, a Receiver and a Transceiver. This combination allows for an integrated design that enables multi point high speed serial data transmission between CAN, LIN and J1850 protocols making it a flexible single chip solution.
The Driver component of the DS229N provides a powerful capability to drive high speed differential signals up to 5MHz. As with most drivers, the driver component is isolated from the signal’s source by a termination resistor, which is used to reduce signal reflections and noise. This component of the DS229N is also capable of automatically adjusting the termination resistance based on the system or line clock signal for maximum flexibility.
The Receiver component of the DS229N is used to detect incoming signals from the Driver component or from an external source. This component contains a full receiver to detect signals and can also be used to detect and reject higher frequency noise caused by EMI or other interference. In addition, the Receiver component is capable of automatically switching from a high to low signal detection impedance based on the system clock.
The Transceiver component of the DS229N is used to provide bidirectional communication between different nodes in the system. This component features a full transceiver with the ability to detect signals in either direction and can also be used to address multiple nodes with a single chip solution. Furthermore, the Transceiver component is capable of automatically adjusting the signal level to meet the system requirement.
