Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (also known as electrolytic capacitors) are polarized capacitors whose anode electrode is made of a metal oxide film or other anode material, that usually contains large amounts of aluminum. The basic construction of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is two aluminum foils, one of which is etched to form a corrugated and two layers of paper or other dielectric separator soaked in electrolyte of acids, organic solvents and other additives.
