Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, or aluminum electrolytic capacitors (AECs), are a family of electrochemical capacitors, also known as polarized capacitors. They are flooded with an electrolytic solution (most commonly an aqueous solution) and usually composed of two electrodes: a metallic aluminum anode and a carbon or noble metal cathode. The dielectric material that separates the two electrodes is called a dielectric paste, which consists of a thin layer of aluminum oxide.
