Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors: EEE-HA1E100AR Application Field and Working Principle Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are passive components with a wide range of applications in electronics. They are usually used as a part of a circuit, to provide a charge or to store momentum. By round characteristics, good stability and a very long service life, aluminum electrolytic capacitors (AECs) are commonly used components in many electronic applications. In a typical electronic circuit, AECs are used to reduce the effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI). This is done by providing a low-impedance path for high-frequency electric currents. The most common application field for EEE-HA1E100AR capacitors is in high-voltage and high-frequency applications, such as in power supplies and rectifier circuits. AEC capacitors have several advantages over other types of capacitors. They can handle extremely high voltages, up to 30V and 1200V. Additionally, they are usually small compared to other types of capacitors and very lightweight. Furthermore, AECs have very low noise due to the lubrication that is applied between the anode and cathode plates. The operating temperature is typically around 60°C - 105°C. The working principle of an AEC is based on the conversion of electrical energy to chemicalenergy. Upon applying a voltage between the anode and cathode terminals, current starts flowing from anode to cathode causing chemical reactions to take place at the electrodes. This chemical reaction forms a layer of oxide on the aluminum foil which acts like a dielectric material. This layer of oxide increases the capacitance value of the capacitor. The oxide layer also improves the operational stability and number of switch cycles of the capacitor. AECs have several advantages over other types of capacitors. They provide reliable protection against EMI. In addition, AECs are capable of storing high levels of electrical charge, while being small and lightweight. Furthermore, they have a long service life and low leakage current. Although AECs are capable of handling high voltage and currents they are not suitable for use in DC filtering applications. Moreover, they are sensitive to harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperatures and humidity, which can reduce the performance of the capacitor. Additionally, AECs are more expensive than other types of capacitors. In conclusion, AECs are versatile and reliable components for many electronic applications. They are suitable for high-voltage and high-frequency applications and can provide protection against EMI.
