Working Principle

Capacitance is the ability of a capacitor to store electrical energy from applied voltages. Capacitance is calculated using the formula C = Q/V, where Q is charge stored and V is applied voltage. The capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined by the area of its plates, thickness of the oxide film and permittivity of the electrolyte. The dielectric strength of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined by its applied voltage and leakage current.
