The EEU-HD1V471 offers up to 105°C temperature range, plus ±20 percent denoted capacitance range, wide range of capacitance values, and wide range of ripple current ratings.
The working principle of the EEU-HD1V471 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on Faraday’s law of electrolytic dissociation. This law explains how electrical current flows when an electric field is applied across a capacitor. The EEU-HD1V471’s construction consists of an aluminum can containing two stacked, electrolytically separated metal foils: a lightweight aluminum anode foil and a thick electrolyte foil. When voltage is applied, the electric field causes the electrolyte foil to release positively charged molecules of aluminum ions, which serve as a nucleation point for the formation of anodic aluminum oxide. This oxide serves as an insulating barrier between the anode and electrolyte foils, allowing current flow.
The anode foil is usually the same thickness as the electrolyte foil, so when the electric field is applied it forces the electrolyte foil to swell, causing the anode and electrolyte foils to separate. This separation increases the capacitance of the capacitor as more area is available to store charge. When the electric field is removed, the two foils are forced back together, causing the capacitor to return to its original state. This behavior is what enables the EEU-HD1V471 capacitor to function in its intended applications.
