Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are one of the most widely used components in electrical and electronic systems in both production and service. These devices are designed to store energy or to provide a current path from one point to another with the aid of an electrolyte and are characterized by their capacitance in Farads, voltage ratings and other features and characteristics.
EKY-500ELL561MM15S is a type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor, with a large capacity of 560μF, a voltage rating of 6.3V and a 100kHz frequency rating. This capacitor is mainly used to bridge higher voltage and current gaps in analog applications, such as filtering, signal coupling, bypass, and decoupling.
The construction of EKY-500ELL561MM15S consists of a porous aluminum anode and a solid aluminum cathode. The electrolyte between them is a solution of a fixed ratio of water and electrolyte. An external leadframe is attached to each end, allowing the external connection of a cap. A thin film of nylon or polyester covers the anode and cathode, preventing them from coming into direct contact.
Working principle of this capacitor is that, when a voltage is applied cross its two leads, electrochemical reactions occur in the anode and cathode, forming two highly conductive layers of metal oxide, which create an electric double layer and a space charge between them. An electric field is then created between the two conductive layers, resulting in a dielectric material (film) between them and from this, a predetermined capacitance is developed.
