Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electrical components used to store energy in the form of an electrical charge. They are formed by two metal plates separated by a dielectric material which can be either solid or liquid. The plates are usually made from aluminum foil and the dielectric is usually an aluminum oxide film. The charge is then stored in the form of an electric field which builds up on the plates when a voltage is applied.

The EMHB160ADA101MHA0G aluminum electrolytic capacitor is commonly used in switch-mode power supplies, voltage regulators, and other applications that require high-density, low loss, and low-impedance energy storage with compact size. It features a robust aluminum-integrated body with snap-in to provide excellent thermal and mechanical performance. It also has a quick-connect termination for easy installation and has an operating temperature ranging from -55℃ to +105℃.

This type of capacitor is molded in a cylindrical plastic case made of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). The base material of aluminum electrolyte is obtained by electrolysis using a sulfuric acid/aluminum oxide mixture and is then processed to form a very thin layer of dielectric on the precursor foil. It is then molded into an increasingly small package using PPS. A conductive material is applied between the plates to provide a path for the stored electrons. The entire device is then sealed with a metal lid which also serves to prevent contamination from particles or liquids.

When a voltage is applied to the capacitor, the electric field builds up on the layers of dielectric and charges the plates. This is the working principle of the device. The amount of voltage required to charge the plates depends on the size of the capacitor and the material used in the manufacturing of the dielectric layer. As the voltage increases, the depth of the electric field increases in strength and the charge stored on the plates also increases. As the voltage increases, the amount of energy that can be stored in the capacitor also increases and so does its total capacitance.
