Analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are two of the most commonly used devices in today’s electronic systems. Analog-to-digital converters (ADC) process an analog signal, such as sound, voltage, temperature, or light, and convert it to a digital signal, which is then processed by a digital system. Digital-to-analog converters (DACs) do the reverse, converting a digital signal into an analog signal. The EVAL-AD5425EBZ evaluation board is designed to evaluate the performance of the AD5425 DAC.
The EVAL-AD5425EBZ evaluation board is based on the AD5425 quad-channel 14-bit voltage output DAC. The board supports a variety of analog input signals, including sine waves, sawtooths, triangle waves, and step inputs, as well as digital audio and audio from a digital-to-analog converter. The EVAL-AD5425EBZ has an LTC1655 non-overlapping comparator circuit, allowing for additional flexibility in evaluating the analog output of the AD5425 DAC. The board also includes a GPIO interface, allowing for software programmability of the DAC.
The AD5425 DAC has a sample rate of up to 200kHz and is capable of producing output data with 14 bit resolution. The DAC can be programmed to output either single-ended or differential signals. It is also capable of synchronization to a common clocking source and can be used as both a master and slave device. The AD5425 has a wide variety of voltage and current output range options, and is compatible with a variety of logic families, including 3.3V and 5V LVTTL, LVCMOS, and LVECL.
The AD5425 can be configured to output analog signals in response to a variety of digital signals, such as serial audio or video. Serial digital signals can be transmitted via I2C or SPI, while parallel digital signals are transmitted via a “data-valid” interface. The output of the DAC can also be programmed to any desired value between 0 and 1.5V. Additionally, the DAC supports “soft control”, allowing for the adjustment of output data during conversion, even while the DAC is already in operation.
In addition to the DAC, the EVAL-AD5425EBZ evaluation board features several other components to facilitate the evaluation of the AD5425 DAC. An LTC1044 voltage reference generates a precise reference voltage for both the DAC and the LTC1655 non-overlap comparator circuit. The board also includes an LTC1650 nonvolatile programmable attenuator, allowing the user to adjust the amplitude of the DAC output signal, and an LTC1664-3 dual-mode low power low dropout linear regulator, which can supply up to 2.5A of current to the DAC.
The EVAL-AD5425EBZ is an ideal evaluation board for the AD5425 quad-channel 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The board provides the necessary components and connections to facilitate the evaluation of the DAC with a wide variety of input signals.
