HCPL3700SVM Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle of HCPL3700SVM

When the microcontroller outputs a digital low signal (0V), the photodiode will be reverse biased, blocking any current flow across it. When the microcontroller outputs a digital high signal (5V), the photodiode will be forward biased and the voltage applied to it will exceed its turn-on threshold, and start conducting current. The transistor is used to amplify the current proportional to the input signal, thus converting the input signal into current.
