The ICS527R-01I is a high-performance dual-output integer-N synthesizer designed to generate two output frequencies. It is commonly used in applications such as wireless infrastructure, basestations, data-communications equipment, military/defense, and test and measurement systems. The ICS527R-01I utilizes advanced integer-N phase locked loop (PLL) technology to generate two output signals each in the 0.2 - 800 MHz frequency range. The device is available in die, die-on-a-pad, and module configurations.

The ICS527R-01I utilizes an integer-N PLL, where the entire N-divider chain is bypassed for applications that operate in the lower frequency ranges. This results in outstanding start-up performance, low off-frequency phase noise and fast settling times with reduce phase jitter.

The ICS527R-01I contains two independent frequency synthesizer cores and can be used in applications such as phase-aligned dual-frequency generation. This is particularly useful for phase-coherent sweep and dual-tone generation applications. The ICS527R-01I is designed to operate with digital control signals and can be operated with a single logic control line or by using a microprocessor control scheme.

The ICS527R-01I is designed with a flexible architecture that is optimized for controlling both output frequencies. Each output can be individually enabled, configured and set to frequency. The use of an On-Chip 2-Wire Serial Interface (OCSI) allows for an programmable update rate. Output frequency range and phase noise performance is further improved by utilizing an optional external loop filter.

The ICS527R-01I utilizes a low-noise voltage-controlled-oscillator (VCO) and is designed for both manual and automatic control mode. In manual control mode, the ICS527R-01I is programmed via control bits, which are loaded into a 8-bit register. In automatic control mode, the ICS527R-01I is programmed via a programming algorithm, which consists of multiple write operations to set the frequency, phase, and output state of each PLL.

The ICS527R-01I is designed to meet the most stringent phase noise requirements. Its purpose-built architecture and low-noise on-chip digital control circuitry results in an output noise floor performance of -175 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset. The ICS527R-01I also features a digital power-down function to reduce power consumption in standby mode.
