Due to the positive voltage applied between the gate and emitter, the transistor is switched off and current cannot flow into the collector. By controlling the voltage applied to the gate, the current flow into the collector can be controlled as well. In this way, the IXGH31N60 is able to quickly switch currents up to 31A and 600V.
