The LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation Board is one of the many evaluation boards available for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS designs. It features state-of-the-art technologies, including an integrated two-phase buck converter, integrated controller, always-on VRM, and dedicated compensation filters. The LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation Board also includes numerous tools for evaluating and testing the performance of the converter and system efficiency, to assist customers in proving that their design meets their requirements.
The LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation board’s main application field is three-phase unregulated DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications. It is designed specifically to drive three-phase converters, such as three-level/three-phase buck converter, three-level neutral-point clamped inverter, single-phase or three-phase AC/DC converters, three-level PFC, and buck-boost PFC converters. Moreover, the converter’s dual-phase design ensures that a single-phase power source can be able to realize a three-phase system.
In terms of the working principle, the LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation Board contains an integrated dual-phase buck converter with two output stages (one for the PFC and the other for the DC/DC converter) and a pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller. The dual-phase buck converter incorporates a low-side power MOSFET, an active clamp, two high side power MOSFETs, a transformer, optocouplers, and a 10-bit voltage feedback divider. With this configuration, the converter can reach an efficiency of up to 97%, and operate up to an output voltage range of between 0.75V and 600V. Additionally, the converter is responsive to dynamically changing loads and has flexible synchronization capabilities.
Since the LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation Board is designed for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications, it offers several benefits over other evaluation boards. It is optimized for space-efficiency whilst delivering high performance and reliability. It allows evaluation of complete power systems, with debugging and testing of functions such as power up sequencing, shutdown, OVP, UVP, and synchronization. Additionally, the LMS3655NQEVM Evaluation Board is pre-programmed with safety functions, including temperature protection, over current protection, operation protection, and over voltage protection, allowing the user to easily check verification and compliance of their design. Moreover, the onboard fan can be monitored, and an external fan can also be used.
