The LMX1601TM/NOPB is an integrated clock generator, PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) and frequency synthesizer, which provides a powerful, cost-effective solution for clock management needs. It combines a high-performance Phase-Locked Loop (PLL)-based clock synthesizer with a high-performance differential crystal oscillator. This dual-frequency architecture allows the LMX1601 to generate multiple outputs with highly accurate frequencies in a wide range of applications.
The LMX1601 captures a clean differential reference clock for its low-noise PLL-based clock synthesis operations. The reference clock is buffered and amplified, and then used to drive the programmable loop filter of the PLL. The PLL provides the necessary feedback control for the synthesizer to generate its output clock waveform with low-noise and high-accuracy.
The PLL loop filter also allows for adjusting the phase margin of the noise reduction filters, ensuring the desired noise performance for any application. The loop-filter bandwidth is also programmable to optimize jitter performance for the application.
The LMX1601 has five programmable output frequencies in the range of 0 to 700 MHz. The frequency resolution is 8192 steps of data. The PLL also has a fast lock-up time of only 4ms, making it suitable for rapidly changing applications. In addition, the LMX1601 has a frequency-agile register, programmable spread and jitter allow frequency planning with confidence.
