As part of Digital Power Group’s portfolio of high-efficiency, ultra-low-noise, space-saving solutions, the LTC3119EFE#PBF is designed to meet the ever-increasing need for energy efficient Operation. The LTC3119EFE#PBF is based on a synchronous buck topology switching regulator, and features a power MOSFET with a 2.6A peak current. Its wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 36V is suitable for applications powered by an external power supply and battery simultaneously. With a maximum total output current of 1.5A and adjustable switching frequency up to 850kHz, the LTC3119EFE#PBF can be optimized to meet the most demanding high efficiency requirements.The LTC3119EFE#PBF includes a power good flag, a shutdown pin, and a versatile output voltage tracking controller. This output voltage tracking controller enables the user to track multiple rail voltages simultaneously. The LTC3119EFE#PBF also has an adjustable temperature limit protection to prevent internal temperature from operating beyond its maximum threshold. Working Principle of the LTC3119EFE#PBF

The LTC3119EFE#PBF works by connecting an inductor and two capacitors between the input and output terminals. As the MOSFET switch is driven in an on-off cycle, the input voltage creates a changing magnetic field in the inductor, storing energy. As the MOSFET switch is turned off, the energy stored in the magnetic field is discharged into the capacitor at the output terminal, producing a second voltage at the output terminal. The output voltage is then regulated either by changing the duty-cycle ratio or changing the switching frequency, thus resulting in an output voltage that is proportional to the input voltage.The LTC3119EFE#PBF also includes a battery charger circuit that works in collaboration with the switching regulator. When the input voltage is greater than the output voltage, the battery charger circuit receives input power. This enables the battery to be charged while the external power supply is connected while also providing steady output voltage. Additional features of the LTC3119EFE#PBF include soft start to minimize inrush current while the device starts up, current limit protection to ensure the device does not draw greater current than its rated current limit, and thermal shutdown protection.The overall combination of features, integrated functionality, and light weight allow the LTC3119EFE#PBF to provide an exceptionally robust, space-saving and cost-effective solution for a wide range of applications requiring energy efficient DC power delivery.
