Tantalum Capacitors

Tantalum capacitors are electrolytic capacitors that consist of a pellet of tantalum metal as an anode, covered by an insulating oxide layer that forms the dielectric, surrounded by liquid or solid electrolyte as a cathode. They have much lower volumn than aluminum electrolytics but with higher cost. M39003/01-8070/TR is a Department of Defense (DoD) approved solid tantalum chip capacitor. The solid tantalum capacitor is a high stability and high reliability type, designated for high temperature and high power operation. It is manufactured in a hermetically sealed rectangular package, having a glass-to-metal seal. The capacitor offers capacitance values of 0.47 uF to 2000 uF and voltage ratings of 6.3 V to 500 V.

The M39003/01-8070/TR works by storing up electrical charge in the form of static electricity on a tantalum pellet, which then works as a conductor and can therefore pass electrons through itself.

The working principle of M39003/01-8070/TR is based on the conversion of electrical energy in a capacitor to its stored form, extremely quickly. When an electric charge is applied, it is stored in an electric field between two capacitor plates.
