Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors are passive components which store electrical energy and are used in power supply designs, switch power supplies, laptop adapters and power inverters. Each device consists of two aluminium foils with a thin dielectric layer between them which is often referred to as the capacitor\'s dielectric. A separator such as glass paper or ceramic keeps the aluminium foil layers separated. An electrolyte is added between the separation layer and the capacitor\'s plate, connecting two plates or electrodes. When an electrical voltage is applied to the capacitor, the anode is attracted to the electrolyte and attracts anions which diffuse into the dielectric layer. The process of anionic diffusion increases an electric field in the dielectric which polarizes and strengthen the electric induction, thus producing a high capacitance.
