MAX3892ETH + T is one such device that converts data from Ethernet frames to NRZ format and vice versa, enabling transmission over fiber. It supports both copper and fiber media, as well as a variety of data rates from 10 to 300 Mbps
The MAX3892ETH +T is an Ethernet to FPD-Link III transceiver. It provides a low-cost, low-power and robust solution for long-distance transmission of Ethernet data. It supports full duplex, half duplex and 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 200Mbps, and 300 Mbps data rates. The transceiver is designed to directly interface to a wide range of physical media including twisted pair, coax and single or multimode optical fiber.
The MAX3892 and MAX3893 Ethernet to FPD-Link III transceivers are identical devices with different part numbers, depending upon the type of package used. The MAX3892 is a 24-pin, 0.5mm pitch, 4mmx4mm quad flat-pack package whereas the MAX3893 is a 24-pin, 0.4mm pitch, 6mmx6mm quad flat-pack package. The MAX3892ETH +T supports both types of packages.
The MAX3892ETH +T converts Ethernet data to FPD-Link III frames and transmits them over copper or fiber media. It also converts FPD-Link III frames to Ethernet frames, ensuring reliable, lossless transmission over long distances. The device also supports a variety of data rates, from 10 to 300 Mbps.
The MAX3892ETH+T also provides protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) protection. It also provides fail-safe operation if the distance between the transmitter and receiver exceeds the maximum distance for the specified data rate. This enables reliable and robust transmission over long distances, up to 300 meters over single-mode fiber.
The device consists of multiple functional blocks including a transformer-coupled line receiver and transmitter, two Ethernet Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) blocks, a Multiprotocol Media Independent Interface (MPLI) transceiver and a Medium Access Control (MAC) transceiver.
The line receiver converts the incoming FPD-Link III frames to NRZ format. The NRZ format is then passed to the PCS and MPLI blocks which decode the data and extract the Ethernet frames. The Ethernet frames are then passed to the MAC, which strips off the Ethernet headers and passes the data to the medium access controller (MAC) which then sends the frames to the destination.
The MAX3892ETH +T also provides an Auto-Negotiation channel for negotiation of link parameters such as data rate and duplex mode. The device also supports Link Pulse Transmit (LPTX) which is used in full-duplex systems to detect link status and ensure reliable data transmission.
The device also supports a variety of optional features such as extended length packet buffers, packet transmission frequency control and priority-based arbitration algorithms. These features help ensure efficient and reliable data transmission over long distances.
