PMIC - Supervisors are devices that are installed in integrated circuits to protect against various faults, in particular, against excessive current, voltage or temperature. The MAX690EPA+ is an example of such a device, with a wide range of applications and a clear working principle.

The MAX690EPA+ also includes an internal shutdown timer. This timer delays the activation of the RESET output by a user-programmed duration, which is used to help prevent false resets due to glitches or other noise on the device inputs. When the internal timer reaches its preset value, the RESET output is driven low, indicating a fault condition.

The MAX690EPA+ is designed to provide the necessary safety features for low power DC-DC converters in portable electronic and communication systems.
