The MC78M06CDTG is a member of the MC7800 series of three–terminal positive voltage regulators designed to provide a local regulation at the outputs of switch-mode power supplies, making them well-suited for systems employing dynamic loads. The regulator uses an internal pass element to provide a relatively high–current output. The current–limiting circuitry prevents internal failure of the regulator, and a thermal shutdown circuit starts protecting the device if the temperature rises to an unsafe level.
