The MCP4716A2T-E/MAY is a unique high-speed, high-precision, Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) unit which is used in a variety of situations where analog accuracy and/or speed of response is critical. The DAC unit is capable of rapidly converting digital input values to analog values with a resolution of 16 bits, and a format which is precision-calibrated to a range of 0 V – 4.096 V reference voltage.The primary application field of the MCP4716A2T-E/MAY is in industrial automation. With its fast conversion rate and 16-bit resolution, it is able to accurately simulate non-linear analog signals, such as those generated by sensors in process lines or robotics environments, with a high degree of accuracy. This allow for precisely controlled, repeatable operation with minimal waste in energy and resources.This DAC device also sees application in precision current control systems, as it is able to represent a wide range of current control and control systems with a high degree of accuracy. By accurately controlling and maintaining precision current, the MCP4716A2T-E/MAY is capable of powering up amplifiers, actuators, or drive motors with pinpoint accuracy.The DAC operates on a unipolar power source, usually a single 4.096 V DC power source. The device is capable of both current-sink and current-source output, and is equipped with safety features such as overvoltage protection, allowing the user to adjust the output voltage down to 0 V from a nominal 4.096 V operating voltage.The MCP4716A2T-E/MAY is enabled via an internal 2-wire, I2C compatible interface, and requires either a master/slave or a standalone mode of operation. The device outputs a single voltage measurement, with a resolution of 16-bit and a dynamic range of 4.096 V.
