The MMA8653FCR1 is a three-axis digital accelerometer that is designed to measure linear accelaration. It can measure dynamic acceleration up to 3 g range, and static acceleration up to 1.5 g range. MMA8653FCR1 Working Principle
The MMA8653FCR1 makes use of capacitive sensing technology and comes with an embedded microprocessor. The accelerometer is made up of a fixed electrode and a movable electrode operating on an alternating voltage. When the stator is subjected to acceleration in any direction, the force is applied to the movable electrode creating an imbalance in capacitance between the two electrodes. The microprocessor detects this imbalance to detect motion.
The microprocessor is programmable and can be adjusted for sensitivity and the measurement range. The accelerometer also features several digital communications and alert settings, allowing for quick and easy testing and configuration. The internal clock accuracy is also adjustable, allowing for accurate time measurements.
The sensor comes with an ultra-low power consumption feature, as well as several built-in power saving and sleep mode options. The sensor is also compatible with I2C and SPI protocols, allowing it to fit in a variety of systems.
