PR01000102400JR500 is a Through Hole Resistors specifically designed for power control and regulation applications.

This type of resistor is a thin film, fixed value resistor insulated from the substrate. It is designed to provide precision resistance values in the range of 0.05 Ω to 2.7 kΩ. The Power Rating of the resistor is 5 Watts in standard. The operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C.

The main feature of this resistor is its wide power range, low thermal resistance, fast and accurate temperature tracking along with resistance stability over temperature and time. It also provides excellent overload protection and high signal isolation.

The resistor is made up of a thin film of gold on a substrate of ceramic, with a thin coat of glass covering it. This substrate is then processed in a furnace to form the necessary resistive elements and structures.

The working principle of this type of resistor is simple. When voltage is applied to the resistor, an electrical current flows through the resistor, and as it flows, the thin gold film of the resistor gets heated up due to the resistance of the thin film. As the temperature of the resistor increases, the resistance of the thin film increases as well, and this is what creates a voltage or power regulation when the current is passed through the resistor.

The resistor is also designed to provide high accuracy and stability of resistance over temperature and time for power control and regulation applications. This is done by the use of a metal-oxide protective layer which is added on top of the thin film to protect the resistor from environmental factors. This layer also helps in maintaining the desired temperature of operation and helps in improving the stability of the resistor.
