Working Principle

The working principle of the PS45M-0ME1BR1K is based on the sliding of a conductive wiper across a resistive track. As the wiper moves across the track, the resistance between the moving contact points and the fixed contact points changes. The adjustable resistor pair inside the pot is designed such that for every linear increment of the wiper\'s movement, the resistance change within a set range.

It is possible to also adjust the wiper resistance depending on the application. The wiper is actuated drawing linear movement from a lever arm which is connected to a screw. When the lever turns, the screw drives the wiper movement causing a resistance change which is proportional to the linear movement of the lever.

The PS45M-0ME1BR1K is also designed with a mechanical limit preventing from over-activity of the wiper. If the lever is pulled or pushed beyond a predetermined point, a mechanical stop will provide an adjustable protection against excessive force clamping the wiper.
