The SGL41-20/96 diode is a single rectifier, used in a range of select applications. The sinewave of the diode’s reverse current can operate in a range from 50 Hz to 20KHz and offers an operating temperature of up to 200 degrees Celsius. It is also certified for ESD level of 8 kV and the rated voltage for qualified products is 1000V.

The diode then acts as a rectifier, rectifying the alternating current and eliminates the lossy heating of the resistor.

The main working principle of the SGL41-20/96 diode is based on the PN junction. This junction is made up of two different semiconductor materials; p-type and n-type, which form a boundary in the conducting material. This boundary acts as an insulator and prevents the movement of any electrons across the boundary. However, when a voltage is applied across this junction, the electrons on the n-type side of the junction move to the p-type side and form holes on the n-type side. This difference in electrons and holes across the junction is known as junction capacitance.
